The common challenge faced by most startup founder is to find a co-founder. Generally, no single founder have every resources and needed skills to do everything to build a startup. That’s why the earliest and first critical decisions must be made is to find a co-founder.
Finding a co-founder is almost like finding a life partner, YES it’s that important. There’s no point in deciding on a co-founder just because of childhood/high school/university friendship. Yes a relationship does matter, but don’t forget that your needs is a co-founder with skills that complement you. Co-Founder with overlap skills often needs to outsource some part of the early task. And that means more financial resource needed to kick-start the startup, or even worse the launch can be delayed because some skills haven’t met a needed standart. Jakarta Founder Institute just successfully graduated its summer batch of kick-ass entrepreneurs. The prominent startup launch program with its origin in Silicon Valley has become an important and reputable institution in Indonesia´s startup ecosystem. Out of hundreds of applications, 75 aspiring entrepreneurs were selected to participate in the program that was kicked-off in September last year. However, only nine founders survived the tough four-month program and were deemed worthy of graduation.

Indonesian job site Qerja announced Wednesday that it had raised Series A financing from Indosat-SoftBank joint venture SB ISAT at a ‘eight digit US dollar figure valuation’.
The company did not reveal the deal details, but said the financing round was one of the highest Series A valuations of any Southeast Asian startups.

Finance and insurance portal Compare88 Group announced today that it has raised an undisclosed amount in Series A funding from Singapore-based Monk’s Hill Ventures.
Compare88 owns and operates the CekAja.com brand in Indonesia – the country’s highest-trafficked independent finance and insurance portal, as well as the eCompareMo.com brand in the Philippines. The company will use the funds to further accelerate growth in Southeast Asia, expand the team and build out its technology.
